A US company can make an overseas founder eligible to apply for Mercury, but it does not guarantee an account. This guide separates the legal company address from the place where the business actually operates. It replaces an older promotional account story; no personal approval experience or cashback outcome is claimed here.

1. Check eligibility before buying services
Mercury requires a company formed in the United States or a US territory, existing or planned US operations, and an eligible business and owner location. Non-US citizens and residents may apply, but restricted countries and business categories still matter. Read the current eligibility requirements for your actual circumstances. A formation provider cannot waive them.
Prepare an accurate description of what you sell, who your customers are, and how money reaches the company. Explain planned activity honestly if the business has not launched. Do not invent customers, sales, contracts, or employees to support an application.
2. Separate the three addresses

A registered-agent service receives official notices. That service alone does not establish where your business operates. 3. Prepare documents that match your application
Have formation documents, the IRS-issued EIN confirmation, ownership information, and identity documents ready. An unprocessed SS-4 application is not the same as confirmation that an EIN was issued. Identify the people who ultimately own or control the company rather than listing only a holding entity.
If Mercury requests address evidence, it must clearly match the company or beneficial owner and the full address. Its guidance gives examples including signed leases, government IDs, and recent utility or financial statements. Submit the required document type and date range through Mercury's secure process; do not edit a document to simulate a different address.
4. Submit and track the review
Check that the application shows it is in review, monitor the registered email and spam folder, and answer any request for clarification consistently with the original application. The review guide says decisions usually arrive within 0–2 business days; additional information can extend this. This is an estimate, not a promise of approval or a three-hour service level.
If more than seven business days pass without an update, check for outstanding requests and contact Mercury support. Do not submit contradictory duplicate applications to try to bypass review.
5. Keep promotions separate from your budget
No current referral reward is verified on this page. Treat any offer you encounter as conditional on its official eligibility, deadlines, qualifying deposits and payment terms. Do not count a possible bonus as a discount on LLC formation, or move money solely on the basis of an old article.

No. Mercury makes the decision after reviewing the complete business and owner profile. Complete documentation does not override eligibility restrictions.
What should I do after approval?
Verify account details inside the authenticated dashboard, enable two-factor authentication, set appropriate user permissions, and reconcile business transactions. Review transfer and card terms before use.
